the Gorgeous Lek

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Mommy and Daddy back in Isaan are so proud of Lek. If it weren't for Lek they wouldn't have those iPhones.

Lek is an indisputable cutie but she ought to be in glittering gold and fake jewels. Or like the captive
princess in "Star Wars."

Umpteen years ago - maybe 3 decades ago - a girlie/hostess bar in Bangkok had the bright idea of dressing its hostesses/bargirls
in approximations of Nazi brownshirt and Wehrmacht uniforms, whereupon every Cohen, Goldberg and Gutman in Bangkok was
howling and wailing with dismay and indignation, feigned or otherwise.

Memory is fallacious but it is possible that the Israeli Ambassador got in on the act - presumably to reassure the Israeli Foreign Ministry
that he was on the ball.

How about a girlie bar called "TO KEEP YOU IS NO GAIN - TO KILL YOU IS NO LOSS" with the babes dressed in KR cadre
outfits? [Feel free to try this out, bar-owners!]

Once upon a time long ago, there was (and maybe still is?) an expensive eatery in London called "School Dinners" where the
waitresses were dressed as St. Trinian's sixth-form girls and rapped diners' knuckles with 12-inch wooden rulers to get their attention.

Amazingly, the SCHOOL DINNERS place is still going strong ...

So, who thinks a KR-themed eatery a good or bad idea?

The girls would be way better looking if they didn't wear those ugly hooker platform shoes and oversized bras. Never understood the platform shoes thing.

Tried and failed a decade ago. Opposite Tuol Sleng genocide museum.

"We opened two weeks ago, but have only had two Europeans coming here to eat. We don't know how much longer we can go," she said.
I think the government shut it down.

The menu at the defunct KR-themed place sounds appalling and totally unappealing, whereas
SCHOOL DINNERS offers filling and nutritious grub.

The suggestion that the government shut it down sounds plausible and and reminds one of a question
asked a few times over the years; WHEN did HE join the ranks of the KR (before or after
the overthrow of Sihanouk in his absence) and - an especially delicate one, this - did HE actually take part
in massacres of Muslim Cham villagers?
