Malaysia offers to train (some) Cambodian Muslim teachers

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Malaysia offers to train (some) Cambodian Muslim teachers

This is ...

... probably a good thing. At an official level, Malaysia has a good grip on extremism -
promptly and summarily firing PAS-linked teachers who came home to tell their parents that
their teachers were telling them that Mahathir Mohammed was an evil "Pharaoh" and an enemy of Islam

The Imam's from Malaysia that are in Southern Thailand are the ones' that are stirring the sh*t there. I remember 35+ years ago they had the same Muslim problem in Southern Thailand as today and the king said if you give up the violence and your weapons that he would give them land, and he did. The ones causing problems now are the son's/grandsons of these people who are listening to the radical Muslim Malaysian Imam's (teachers.) With all the problems Cambodia has they really don't need these "teachers " here or their support from Muslim Malaysia.
