British Expat and His Khmer Wife Kill Two Men on Motorbike in Car Crash

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Oops, yes, should have been "John Doe" since he's not identified.
I don't believe he's been named anywhere yet.
According to this, the man has been identified as Duncan Giles Stewart, 46, British.

His identity was given last night during Hang Meas Evening News, thought about posting the clip but thought better of it.
His two young children were in the back of the car, they were coming back from the waterfall in Kampot.
Hang Meas laid the blame on the foreigner's driving.

Just to clarify on this subject. My wife and Duncans wife are good friends. Story goes he was overtaking when a truck was coming the other way. He had 2 options apparently.
Head on collision with truck killing everyone
Swerve onto the wrong side and killed the two people on the moto.
For whatever reason he could not merge back into the correct lane.
I was not there so I cannot comment, and as usual Khmer translation is not always accurate.
Money is paid to the family, police and whichever other officials with their hands out. In the vicinity of 50k to be released from Prey Sar where he has been staying.
Sad story for everyone involved as they are a nice couple and has heavily impacted them as the victims family.

Yeah, I hate to say it but what you have posted makes it look like he was at fault and tried to overtake when he shouldn't have.

I don't think anyone is saying he did anything malicious or on purpose, but you do make it sound like it was his fault.

When over taking, you should always be able to abort, and it sounds like he went into it without an exit plan, and at that point had no choice but to go off the road on the other side.

Sad for everyone involved.

I wasnt there so I don't know. Just going on what the Mrs told me. I would assume the same as you guys that he may have overtaken when unsafe. I don't want to start rumours about what happened when I don't have all the facts. I'm just saying it's a very sad situation for both parties. Especially for the lads on the moto.
We should all practice safe driving even when noone else does. Wear helmets not drink drive, as the Cambodians drive too fast and dangerous.

Could not agree more mate, it is a sad situation for everyone involved. I was just pointing out that your post may do more harm than good with the way you have explained it.
