Restaurant in Siem Reap for Christmas Day

Post by clareindxb »

Looking for ideas for nice place in SR that would have atmosphere and friendly, welcoming vibe for Christmas Day for small family of 3, not necessarily looking for traditional festive food, obviously! Thinking about it in passing now as we arrive in SR in mid December and my November is going to be insane :-(
Just wanted to give our 10 year old a fun day as we will be newly arrived and won't know a soul !

maybe somewhere with a wide menu choice? Husband and myself happy with local but son might prefer a more familiar choice just for one day. Budget not too crazy but for one day it doesn't have to be the cheaper end, not interested in the fine dining/haut cuisine as not husband's preference. More interested in happy vibe and would pay a bit more if it is a nice setting - and daytime rather than evening. Not being very helpful am I? Open to suggestions! Thanks in advance

Hanno, you might agree or disagree. I'd think Belmiro's on St 7 might have a holiday meal menu.

A favorite with my girlfriend's kids is the Crocodile River Bistrot. Huge portions, Asian and Western food, decent prices: https://www.facebook.com/The-Crocodile-River-Bistro-783181308415742/

Mammashop has great Italian food and is very reasonably priced. Italian food only: https://www.facebook.com/mammashop.italian.restaurant/

Marum restaurant has good Khmer food and it is all for a good cause. One of the few restaurants with nice outdoor seating: http://tree-alliance.org/our-restaurant ... m=or&sm=ma

All of us like George's Rhumerie (evening only). Nice setting and great Creole food: https://www.facebook.com/georges.rhumerie.siemreap/

For some Khmer fusion, Mie Cafe is an excellent choice. A little bit more up-market but not too posh: http://miecafe-siemreap.com/

A restaurant with great Khmer food and fabulous service: http://khmertouchcuisine.com/

I'm sure there will be plenty of restaurants offering a full Christmas dinner.

Here's a few suggestions from 2015 http://www.movetocambodia.com/holidays/ ... siem-reap/

and from 2014 http://www.movetocambodia.com/holidays/ ... siem-reap/

Belmiro's is good but just way too heavy for me. I always walk away vowing to not eat for a week.

BRILLIANT :-)
Thank you all so much.
Relocating is quite a thankless, exhausting business - this will give us all something to look forward to!
Hello to you all, by the way...

Welcome to Cambodia !! You should come down to the coast for new year - the fireworks in Sihanoukville are amazing.
