The real scam is that Politicians promise results, to lobbyists, if only they had more $$$ for re-election campaign.

Yeah, but they also know what's up with it going forward so it's not really a rip off.Milord wrote:The real scam is that Politicians promise results, to lobbyists, if only they had more $$$ for re-election campaign.

The answer to the big drain on American resources/men is to stop being the world cop and become the world security agency. You go to the government of each country and ask if they want to be protected by the US, its military, aircraft carriers, foot soldiers, nuke subs, tanks, aircraft? If they say no, you close down the US bases in that country, cut off US foreign aid, inform them and any countries that don't like them that you will not lift a finger to help them in a crisis. You also increase the import tax to 100% for goods manufactured in that country that are imported to the US.
If they say, "Yes we want your service," you write a contract that outlines the extent of the "service", the amount of military hardware that they require in this service, the amount of troops/sailors, ships, guns, aircraft, etc required and bonus's for a conflict or war. You make out a bill for every troop/sailor/airman, ship, aircraft, etc. Cost is paid upfront and can be in oil, gas, gold, diamonds, etc. You then pay the US military people a good wage with great injury and death benefits. You would also stipulate in the contract if you could hire sub-contractors (like the Isreali army, Brit SAS, etc) to help. You give "favored trade partner" status to goods imported into the US from "protected" countries.
You thus turn a drain on the US tax payer to a profit making business. The US weapons manufacturers would be happy, the service men/women would be happy and the US tax payer would be happy. Obviously too simple of an answer to the drain on the US economy/tax payer.

Then world press would just label us as extortionists and profiteers. Nothing we do will make them happy, because happy doesn't sell newspapers.

They are doing this already.Sailorman wrote:The answer to the big drain on American resources/men is to stop being the world cop and become the world security agency. PS You forgot the 'invasion to give the people democracy' option.
PPS Why is it OK when you do it but expansionist imperialism when Russia or China do it?

Because we're not annexing the countries we do military actions in... stop drinking the propaganda juice for a minute and think about it rationally.
Do you really think that the middle eastern countries would just "play nice" if we leave them alone?

America sucks at War and everybody knows it. They suck even more at Occupation.
They should just stay home and make films.

You see, you have fallen for the brainwashing yourself.OrangeDragon wrote:Do you really think that the middle eastern countries would just "play nice" if we leave them alone?
The reason they will never play nice now is that you never left them alone in the first place.
The only reason the US even cares about the middle east is money, mostly oil. No philanthropy/lifting the semites out of poverty involved. At all. Nada.
The irony is that they created their own dependence on the Arabs.
