Ripped off by false policeman at Pattaya police station.
On the evening of August 29 a Ms Noppawan Suksatien (33), Ms Wanna Yoobchantuek (30), and Mr Peter (surname withheld), a sixty-year-old Swiss national, made a complaint to the Superintendent at Pattaya Police Station.
They claim that on August 20 Ms. Noppawan was arrested for drug possession and taken to Pattaya Police Station.
Whilst there she was approached by a man calling himself Singha who told her he was an ‘insurance agent’ who had connections with the police department and who could secure her release.
He told her this would cost 35,000 baht and demanded a 5,000 baht deposit.
The following day Ms Noppawan contacted one of her boyfriends, Peter.
He handed over 5000 baht to Mr Singha in the waiting area of Pattaya Police station.
Singha then disappeared and there was no further contact. On August 23 Ms Noppawan was sent to trial and this time her friend Ms Wanna came to bail her out of the jail.
They immediately went to the front desk to make a complaint that Mr Singha had conned them out of the 5000 baht.
Officers took a statement and said they had never heard of Mr Singha but would investigate their claim of fraud.
