This looks pretty bad.

Based on the pictures (and the article), he looks guilty as fuck!

Sounds like they tried to arrest him on a previous visit, but he left before they could. Doesn't appear to be an isolated occurrence either. He also had a second guesthouse. That's suspicious as hell. And the girl in the picture looks VERY YOUNG.

It also mentions pornography. That also makes it sound like a stronger case against him.

I'm guessing this will be in the English papers by tomorrow. Until then, Google Translate can butcher it for us.

Looking at that photo, no way he can defend himself saying "I swear I thought she was 18."

And since the photo was taken (by who knows who, since I didn't read yet that article in details), I really hope that she was rescued before he could do anything to her.

Not to say he is or isn't but if someone took a photo of me holding my daughters hand crossing a street when she was 6,7,9 etc. (someone did try in 2006 when she was 12 and we were in PP )
would i be branded a pedo?

All i am saying is don't condemn without all the facts, the story is more condemning thou.

BTW, this seldom happens in Thailand ( photos of Farangs with kids) or hassles like this. I wonder why?

The photo of him holding her hand is date stamped June 12. If he was only arrested on June 24th, it would seem that he did whatever he did with impunity, unless I am misunderstanding the timeline in the article. Plus there is mention of making pornography involved? Sometimes such claims are just translation errors, but if true, he is rightfully done in.

As to phuketrichard's post, fathers with young daughters do, on occasion, get unfortunate (and sometimes despicable) harassment from authorities and sometimes the general public who don't have the facts straight. Who was it (from K440) who got practically assaulted by an (Italian?) tourist with her camera, as she yelled "pedo, pedo !" while he walked with his daughter? I remember someone commenting that if any guesthouse clerk questioned his relationship with his own child before being allowed to check in to a rental room, the poster would assault the clerk ("he better have dental insurance", the quote was).

But in such cases, the young girl's welfare trumps everything else, even as humiliating and horrible an untrue allegation like that would be to a father and child. The average, uninformed tourist should probably not get involved directly, though, beyond bringing it to the attention of proper authorities.

I have seen multiple articles like this regarding farangs inappropriately cavorting with Thai kids in the Thailand press over the years.

Again, the picture alone doesn't mean anything, but based on the article, even if it's only translated half correctly, he seems guilty.

It doesn't sound like he even lives here.

That said, we will have to wait for more info, but I'm guessing they actually caught a bad guy this time.

The one thing that DOES seem odd to me is that it doesn't look like they nabbed him WITH a victim.
Without knowing more about the case, it's possible there is a good reason for this, and maybe they have/had more than enough evidence at the time of the arrest without having to wait and catch him on his next attempt.

Shit, this is one of those stories isn't it? If the guy is guilty, then I agree, unreservedly, with the Islamic practice of stoning him to death. NO QUARTER GIVEN.
BUT, surely in this day and age and particularly, COUNTRY, no fukn rockspider is going to be stupid enough to walk down a public street with his victim? Where his photo could have been ( was ) taken?
I have a 3 year old niece in PP and I would like to think that I could walk down the street with her, holding her hand, without judgement. But the fact is, I feel nervous doing it unless her mum ( my sister) is with me. And while the blame for this lies mainly with the monsters that fiddle with kids, I feel some of the blame also lies with the NGO'S and media who feed off stories like this.
That photo just looks so innocuous to me.
And I suppose that's how they get away with it.

Yeah, it's a double edged sword.

That's why I'm hoping they really did some serious investigating over this.

And if it turns out he is a tourist and has innocently taken these kids out by himself to amusement parks, I think he should still get 10 years for being fucking stupid enough to get himself into this situation.
