A 48-year-old Filipino man was arrested by Immigration Police and police questioned six other foreigners as raids on illegal workers in the capital continued yesterday.

All the suspects were found at the same house in Chamkar Mon district, but only a man identified as Constantine Fisco Abitria was arrested, Major General Uk Heisela, chief of investigations at the Ministry of Interior’s immigration department told Khmer Times.

“We investigated a house in Chamkar Mon district’s Toul Tompong commune and arrested a 48-year-old Filipino named Constantine Fisco Abitria, who has lived in the Kingdom for nine years illegally without a passport,” he said, adding that the man will be deported soon following further questioning.

During the raid, the passports of five foreigners from the Philippines and Australia were confiscated, but were found to be in order, although all lacked valid work permits and were each fined 500,000 riel ($125), Maj. Gen. Heisela added...
