I've harboured some crazy security ideas for some time.

1. Theremin. that old Si-Fi music produced when you wave your hands. Driven by capacitance. If a body came near a window/screen weird sounds are produced. Nobody likes ghosts. Easy to make from a Morse Code circuit. or IC-555.

2. Mini tesla coil. From bug zapper, neon transformer, plasma ball, camera flash, or electric fence. Triggered by motion sensor or mini switch.

My own experience was when I heard the rear door knob been turned at 2 a.m. When I looked I saw the door to my garage being closed, I found that a deer rifle worked to keep the perp holed up until the cops arrived. 5 large guys helped him down to the ground ... hard. I told 9-1-1 not to shoot the guy wearing a white bathrobe with a rifle.

p.s.: I would build a "potato" gun that shoots full club soda cans.

Some times it's just to hard to resist. So Five Oh took off the white bath robe with a rifle...

20 yrs ago city cops were polite and help full. 10 yrs ago they took/stole the rifle, bastards.
