Answers here:Why is Luanda, Angola so incredibly expensive?
For example, apartment costs easily go up to $15,000 per month (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luanda). How is that possible?

Please don't. These polls are excruciatingly nauseating.Username Taken wrote:Do they have one of these for 'World's Cheapest Cities For Expats'?
Anywhere the UN and other aid organizations are, are always the most expensive. They need to spend their budget and they don't care what they spend it on. Maybe another good reason why most aid workers should go back home.
I mean, look at the mess Cambodia was left in.

How many of the cities in the OP have a large UN/ Aid presence? Likely only the Luanda and N'Djamena, and the reasons Luanda is so expensive have little or nothing to do with the UN.juansweetpotato wrote:

Re: World's most expensive cities for expats
World's most expensive cities 2016.
A few changes in the top 10 - notably Tokyo and Kinshasa.
The whole list is here for those who are thinking of making a move : http://www.atlasandboots.com/most-expen ... ts-ranked/
2016-2015
1 - 2 Hong Kong Hong Kong, China
2 - 1 Luanda Angola
3 - 3 Zurich Switzerland
4 - 4 Singapore Singapore
5 - 11 Tokyo Japan
6 - 13 Kinshasa Dem. Rep. of the Congo
7 - 6 Shanghai China
8 - 5 Geneva Switzerland
9 -10 Ndjamena Chad
10 -7 Beijing China
Phnom Penh now comes in at 118 - up from 142. That's quite a jump.
116 104 Nairobi Kenya
117 135 Portland United States
118 142 Phnom Penh Cambodia
119 83 Montevideo Uruguay
119 109 Glasgow United Kingdom
121 151 Jeddah Saudi Arabia
So it may be cheaper to stay in Glasgow than move to PP. ( Jeddah also looks like a promising choice, GM )
And who would want to move to Sydney, with the world's priciest beer ? Sihanoukville must be right down there at the bottom of the list somewhere.
