Angkor Wat ticket prices to almost double next year

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Angkor Wat ticket prices to almost double next year

Post by ExPenhMan »

No reasons were given among the news stories I read. Xinhua News offers the standard press release news item:

Day tickets to rise from $20 to $37. Still cheap by international standards.

I have no idea, but what does it cost to visit the pyramids, or Stonehenge, etc.?

A few years ago I went to see he temples and lasted about 1 1/2 hours there. Thousands of people, stinking hot and to top it off, the main temple was closed as they were renovating the entrance.
so as for seeing temples, I was a lot happier visiting the ones around Battambang and only a couple of $$ to enter.

hmmmmm....

Stonehenge
Adult - £15.50 ($20)
Child (5-15) - £9.30 ($12)
Concession - £13.90 ($18)
Family (2 adults, up to 3 children) - £40.30 ($50)

The Pyramids of Giza & the Sphinx
Enter the Site - 40 LE ($4.50)
Go inside pyramid - 60 LE ($6.75)

The Great Wall of China
Each entry point across the wall = 40-45 RMB ($6-6.75)

$37 dollars seems a rip off in comparrison (But Angkor Wat is huge, although i think the $20 current price tag is about right)
