Amazon Firestick +Kodi
Has anyone used this device that allows you to get tv and movies by plugging the stick into HDMI on your tv?
Re: Amazon Firestick +Kodi
No, but I have an Android device (M8S) and love it. I got rid of TVONE as I now have tens of thousands of movies and TV programs.

I clicked on this because I expected to see a Hipster called Kodi burning his hipster beard of twirling a firestick on a Balinese beach. Disappointed....

Re: Amazon Firestick +Kodi
I run Kodi on a Raspberry Pi. TBH I usually download stuff to my laptop and just use the Kodi to watch it on my TV. Watching and streaming tv/movies live has mixed results. Sometimes perfect, other times buffering and I give up. My internet is 6 Mbps fibre, but I think the bigger issue is Cambodia's external bandwidth capacity (or lack).

It can't hurt for your friend to bring 1 or 2 for testing, but I'm wondering whether it will work outside the US, or countries where there is no Amazon presence.
On the web page it says, "access to all your favorite subscriptions and streaming services". So, would you need to subscribe to some sort of Amazon service or something?

I have Kodi on my laptop with all my music videos. I can connect the HDMI from laptop to tv for a personal full-screen music festival.
I don't watch much tv or movies, but I understand that Kodi has some plugins that will give free access to streaming tv and videos.
So, why bother?

Kodi allows you to use resources outside Amazon. Free, once you jailbreak the firestick.
I think the point of it is the portability.

Re: Amazon Firestick +Kodi
Idon't think you even need to jailbreak it, you can just use firestarter to bypass the Amazon stuff:
