British Drug User Martin Stephen Hale Dies of Overdose in Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Dean William McWilliams Hospitalized

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Should we substitute "accused" with "acquitted"?

why not just say

Martin Stephen Hale Dies of drug related use in Phnom Penh; Dean William McWilliams Hospitalized and now released

Neither since it's not really relevant, and would seem to serve no purpose except to tarnish his reputation unfairly. As I mentioned before:
LTO wrote:...Or perhaps even better, give the dead guy a break and not mention the 'smuggling' arrest/acquittal at all, and leave it at what his broken hearted mother said in the article, which is current and indisputably relevant to his current state: "It was morphine tablets that Martin had taken and caused a heart attack. Martin did take drugs, yes." He was a drug user, and, unfortunately, he died of it.
Perhaps, 'Martin Stephen Hale, known drug user, dies of drugs use in a Phnom Penh hotel', or something to that effect. That also serves as a warning to other abusers who are contemplating using drugs here rather than just vilifying this one dead guy.

Or follow Richard's suggestion which is also fair and to the point:
