As they don't have parents to show them where to go, and they have no fear of humans, I would suspect you are right. They wouldn't last 2 days before being caught and eaten.

All things considered, they have a pretty good life. Better than being pong tea koan or run over by a moto, which were their other options.

Can't imagine they'd go too far from mama duck, unless you were away for any length of time and then you might have a problem.

giblet,, clipping the wings of poultry is ok. It does not hurt them , its just like getting a hair cut. But don't clip the wings on both sides . If you clip on one side only ,, and they try to fly they loose balance and confidence and soon give up trying.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Are those the kind of birds you want to raise, giblet? No balance, no confidence, no self-esteem? I am re-thinking my position on this.

They are actually not particularly interested, they are very much a flock and imprinted onto each other. The geese are much more connected to us, but they have started hanging out with the ducks now and are becoming part of the flock (and as such, less interested in me).

It seems inevitable, growing up in my household.

The moat around Angkor Wat?

We still haven't decided on a more permanent solution, but since the kids are growing we got them a bigger pool.
