Queen's birthday
I don't know if any of you are watching the military drills associated with HM birthday.
Remarkable pageant of historic uniforms.
I doubt many of us will see an equal spectacle again.

I especially like the immaculately groomed military horses.

Re: Queen's birthday
some marvellous greys there.
this is the biggest regimental parade since 1954!
Well worth a quick look.
will never see the like again.

Poor Liz and Phil would probably rather be home with a nice cuppa.

Thankfully! What a bunch of pompous nonsense. What a waste of time, resources & money.frank lee bent wrote:I don't know if any of you are watching the military drills associated with HM birthday.

Maybe use all that for a more worthwhile endeavor? Maybe feed a few? Build a shelter? Clean an area?
Her Majesty. What has she ever done but live a life of indulgence? Yes spectacle is the word.

Re: Queen's birthday
the historical aspects that stretch back to the hollow square of roman legions in the stylized drill are noteworthy in and of themselves.
there are far more extravagant wastes on a daily basis in many countries.
I am not holding this event up as a proponent of the institution of british monarchy.
it is well worth a look though, to any student of military history and empire.
kind of a jarring note to see them in the antique uniforms with modern carbines at the present arms command.
