why are people getting worked up over what some dumbass spouted years ago?

if he wasnt a talented boxer no one would take any notice. hed just be a stupid town idiot.

its a well known fact he was of below average intelligence by some margin and his rants were just ill thought out rubbish, until he had some coaching later on.

why,is it racist?

just because he talked a lot, usually about the same subject repeatedly - racism, vietnam, boxing, foreman, islam etc - does not equate to intelligence.

Times were different back then. His self confidence was welcomed not only by his own, but through the whole world. He helped put light on subjects that were mostly ignored by the public beforehand.

Everybody talked a lot about that those days, a lot of Americans did not agree with the Vietnam war and racism was (is) a hot topic.

To be honest, if I judged intelligence by what people are talking about then some Khmer would not fare so well (Range Rover, money, food, money, Range Rover, money......)

I used to go swimming in Mohammad Ali' pool when I lived in Michigan as a kid.

He used to entertain the neighborhood kids, doing magic tricks.

I'll see if the fam can find any old pics, which would be pretty cool to see now.

I barely remember it. Mainly remember having to use the intercom at the front gate to get let in. must have been some lame magic tricks if that's all I can remember.

Here's a video from The Greatest's home town-a city where he was more than just a highly talented boxer.
