Cambodians return home

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. What your post actually reads "Shit, this guy made a great point. Umm......well your country is also screwed up!"

you seem like a decent enough bloke. Can you just try and take a step back and re-think this?

not my country :-)

IN a nutshell, the army did what it had to do,
this constant bickering was driving the country further an further apart,
something had to be done.

Most thais are very happy ( notice there have been no anti coup demonstrations for weeks)
even in Ubon thani , a stronghold for the red shirts they held a big party an everyone came out into the streets and burned their red shirts.

They are fucking tired of thaksins lies an being his puppet while he sits 4,000 miles away, How do u think his sister feels now?

ON the thai news;
as you might recall during the past 6 months there have been reports (some unconfirmed) of Cambodian mercenaries entering Thailand and using the demonstrations to cause havoc. So with all the camboidans leaving they are creating a atmosphere where those that truly want to work will obtain the right papers and return.

Thailand is not ready for democracy. YET

The Army has assumed the leadership and when he dies they will be in control
can u imagine what it would like if the king had died, say in March? The country would now be in a civil war.\

Cambodia is closely tied to Thailand, a civil war in Thailand would be terrible for Cambodia

Look at the big picture

They are scared to demonstrate. I've seen them interviewed by the BBC.

Any evidence of that, and why Khmers would do so?

well the very idea of mercenary would be "for money"... i hear castro had really good reasons for his coup as well. and not one bit of the media from cuba showed anything but people cheering for him and former supporters of his opposition rallying to his side... paid actors or not.

amazing what happens when you have 100% control of the media.

T
he same night, 5 Cambodians were caught attempting to torch the main anti-regime protest stage at Democracy Monument, according to Thai PBS.

While the regime cannot openly confront the protesters with excessive violence in fear of justifying the army to mobilize and oust the regime, it has in the past, and is now resorting to the use of hired thugs and professional mercenaries to carry out deadly attacks in its stead. Regime gunmen have already been photographed and captured on video having triggered the first deadly violence of the protests last week.

With the capture of 5 Cambodians attempting to commit arson, admitting that they were hired to do so, it exposes what might be just the leading edge of a large campaign of violence being organized by the regime. The regime’s ties to the neighboring dictatorship of HE of Cambodia are well known within Thailand, however little, if ever covered by the Western press.

WHY" for money and cause Thaksin and he are good friends an nothing Thakin wants more than to cause trouble

Daily the army is finding hidden caches of weapons all over the country I (they just arrested 5 people here in Phuket tow days ago)

Harsh times call for harsh measures

Honda laying off 25,000 staff. Undoubtedly a result of the temporary stimulated demand created by another populist ill thought out policy by the Yingluck regime - the first car scheme. Car's bought on credit and now the repossession rate effect is being felt by the collapse in second hand car prices, a great time to buy a used car. The day a company like Honda relocates manufacturing to Cambodia things will truly have moved forward, it's high end imported sales franchises for the lucky few for the foreseeable future I suspect.

phuketrichard wrote:first u ask about the workers,
now ur interested in the employers.
who is it your worried about losing

everyone wins

Thailand gets its cheap labor at an lower than Thai costs
workers get legality, protection and insurance

BTW Honda announced that they are firing over 25,0000 employees from their production plant because of rising costs and lower car sales.
IF the companies drop employees because of the increased cost of employing legal workers vs illegal, then the workers have no jobs to return to. so both... because without one the other doesn't exists.

And as soi dog said, thanks for proving my point...

Um, while some were for domestic markets they were mostly manufacturing for export...
