You can't legislate against human stupidity

Post by IraHayes »

From the BBC
"You can only get there by ferry, and there are signs there saying watch out for the bloody crocodiles.
"You can't legislate against human stupidity," he said, adding: "If you go in swimming at 10 o'clock at night, you're going to get consumed."

"You can't legislate against human stupidity..."
Which is true, but it was a tactless thing to say in the media, even if that's what all the locals are thinking. They are still searching for the body, so you've got to think of the family waiting for news. It's a horrible way to go.

Though frankly, does this sound like an appropriate place to swim ? And at night ?
Residents told Australian media that the area was a known crocodile habitat.
And local MP Warren Entsch said the area was popular with crocodile-spotting tours and there were many warning signs.
She was a Kiwi, but longtime resident of Australia : http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/australia/ ... ttack.html
