French Tourist Nicolas Thibault Gets His iPhone Back From Police After It Was Stolen In Battambang

Battambang: A French man, Nicolas Thibault, 21, lost his white iPhone 4 at a a local market in Cherng Phnom Sompov resort in Banon district, Battambang province.

After he informed authorities about the case, Banon district police and Administrative post police, cooperated with tourism police officers who arrested a perpetrator, Pen Sopheak, called Tur, male, 28, lived at Phnom Sampov village, Phnom Sampov commune, Banon district.

They immediately, confiscated the iPhone that he stole from the French man at Phnom Sampov resort.

The police gave Nicola Thibault his iPhone back, and he was so pleased that he wrote a thank you letter to the police for their helpfulness.

The perpetrator had been sent for legal actions.

I have noticed several reports in which the victim writes a thank you letter to the police after stolen property has been recovered. How does that work? I can't imagine most westerners just spontaneously writing a thank you note to the cops, or are they? Are the police asking for it, or maybe requiring it, or what?

Instead of paying some cash to get your stuff back, you write a thank you note in English ? The cops can then show this as proof that they are doing their job?
No idea, just a guess.
