Cambodia Work Permit Consultancy: All Foreigners With an "E" Visa Need a Work Permit

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

LTO wrote:Interesting that this visa shop is claiming that 'everybody with an E-type visa requires a work permit'.

Is that true, or is that a lie/misinformation in order to drum up business? What of children, non-working spouses and retirees?Wouldn't speak very well of their abilities to acquire the correct legal paperwork for people if they are lying or or misinformed about the actual legal requirements.

And dogs. Don't forget about working dogs, seeing eye dogs, mine sniffing dogs , cattle dogs , and guard dogs. If they are working dogs they need working visa's.

That will keep the facebook crowd busy.

In Uganda a work permit is $8000 per year, not many expats there promoting business. And a visa is $100 US. But they want tourists- dumb cunts.

I was given a bit of paper from the Immigration guys that said I had to have a work permit if I had an ordinary visa when I got cornered. I still don't have one but it took money for them to go away. This was over a year ago.

Who on earth would pay $8,000 to work in Uganda? Are you sure it's not a reward paid to the person foolish enough to accept a work permit there for a year?
