What makes me want to cry in Cambodia are the things that can't be fixed, or things that it will be too late to fix. The Chut Wutty video made me cry - not just because they killed a brave man, but because, despite the fact that they don't stand a chance, there are still good simple people who continue their struggle to protect the forests from illegal logging. They will continue until they are neutralized or the forest is gone. This is not something that will be fixed by a change of govt IMO; the system is too entrenched.
I don't see any signs of hope for saving the Cambodian forests, and this will be an irreplaceable loss for the people. Filling in the lakes and wetlands, building ill-thought out dams on the rivers, are other ways the environment is being damaged irreversibly. Some things cannot be undone. Why would I cry if there was some hope for the future ?
