SIM card for cell phone. Suggestions?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Yes you can. I forget the details, but I've heard of several people doing it.

I think they get you to verify the last few calls you made and/or received.

You can buy a SIM card wherever you can buy water. Seriously.

But if you feel really awkward approaching an unrecommended shop (I can't believe I'm saying this . . .), there's one on 51, where I have bought many top-up cards etc. It's on the river (east) side of 51, between 172 and 174. It has a glass case outside, internet inside, sells coke and cigs.

nightmare.believer wrote:What is a very inexpensive, yet very good, SIM card to get for a cell phone? What company and where can they be bought?
As others have stated you can buy a sim pretty much anyplace. If you want an official store there is SMART inside Sorya shopping center Or you can check the Metphone store locator here:

http://www.metfone.com.kh/en/Support/p-9/Branches.aspx

Personally I think Metphone is good except for the annoying spam (daily text, and one or two voice recorded calls per week)
Taxi, we'd rather walk. Huddle a doorway with the rain dogs
