Not true, 70% of the population is under 35. Besides that, if you know older people they don't generally have a problem talking about anything like that. I'm don't see how you'd know anyway, having barely been here and spending most of your time with hooker girlfriends ripping you off blind.Most of the Cambodians living in Cambodia had to endure not just the war, but also the post-war fighting and betrayals, the guerilla war, Vietnamese occupation, UNTAC chaos, etc., and aren't so keen to talk.
They moved to a very foreign culture where they couldn't speak the language, most had very poor education and many ended up in public housing projects on welfare. They tend to be much more affected by events than those who stayed.You may want to look the communities of Long Beach, California, and Lowell, Massachusetts. The Cambodians there are mostly refugees from the war and did not face the continuous chaos afterwards.
