Old Ancient Boat Found In Siem Reap

A 12 meter long boat was found under the group about 7 to 8 meters. It was found on 08 April 2016 in Doun Out village, Leang Dai commune, Angkor Thom district, Siem Reap province. It is believed that the boat was built two years before Angkor Wat.

Very modern day Cambodian twist to the story reported in the last few paragraphs of this CEN article.
The owner of the sand pumping company reportedly discovered the boat 10 days ago, someone (villagers or workers) let Apsara know and Apsara went to enquire at the site. The female manager of the sand pumping company denied that anything had been unearthed and sent Apsara away.
She's now (10 days after initially having found the boat) told Apsara and let them unearth it.
She says that she saw the 'boat master' (and whether that's the spirit of the boat/tree trunk or the coxswain it's not stated) in a dream who told her she had to make appropriate ceremonial offerings of rice and music before digging up the boat.
The article suggests that she may actually have been delaying informing Apsara as she didn't want her sand pumping operation halted (losing money for each day of work)

Apsara have taken samples of the boat to date it and no conclusive date has yet been given.

Yeah, i'm still trying to figure that one out! Manhandle it up a slope where its hoisted by a crane with rope at both ends where it could of split in two, then dump it in the water. it's survived how many years without being submerged unless the soil around there is wet clay. It's a wonder 8 folk didn't jump in it to see if it could take the weight.

I was at The temple when they placed it in the water. The local guide with us was giddy with excitement about the story, as he was hearing it from the people who were moving the boat. But he nor I understood why it was being moved into the water in front of Angkor Wat.
