Russian tourist killed by croc while snorkelling.
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/a ... -indonesiaA Russian tourist has been mauled to death by a crocodile in a popular diving site in eastern Indonesia.
The body of Sergey Lykhvar was discovered on Tuesday in the Raja Ampat islands of West Papua, four days after he was reported missing.
Local search and rescue head Prasetyo Budiarto said Lykhvar was reported missing to the authorities last week, one day after he left to snorkel around the remote Minyaifun island.
Budiarto said that rescuers spotted a large saltwater crocodile trailing behind Lykhvar’s body when he was discovered.
“We believe he was killed by a crocodile judging from the missing body parts and the extent of his injuries,” he said...
Holy shit - "the missing body parts". Guess they were lucky to have recovered what was left of the body.
I didn't even know that there were saltwater crocs in Indonesia.

Salt water crocs have been sighted in Cambodian waters in the past...those things can swim across hundreds of kilometres of open sea.

http://www.ipsnews.net/2009/11/cambodia ... -survival/CAMBODIA: Once ‘Extinct’ Crocodile Claws Its Way Back to Survival
PHNOM PENH, Nov 20 2009 (IPS) - Siamese crocodiles once ranged far and wide across South-east Asia, from Indonesia to Vietnam, Laos to Thailand. But habitat loss and poaching virtually wiped out the three-metre long animals. Twenty years ago they were classified as effectively extinct in the wild.
That seemingly terminal news was partially offset in 2000 when researchers discovered several dozen of them living in the wild in south-west Cambodia. Experts now believe there are 250 Siamese crocodiles living in the wild in the region, and almost all of those are in Cambodia.

Those are just sissy freshwater crocodiles and they're almost extinct. Now if you want to see how to deal with a real "salty", see here:Username Taken wrote:That's it! I'm not going swimming in the sea again.
