Well, just ask the head of state. Apparently he's got all the juicy bits on his phone.CEOCambodiaNews wrote:We don't have all the details, but Kem Sokha seems to be in trouble over a sex scandal with a girl.
Very funny article from CD. Just to sum up :
LOL.Busy man.Mr. Siphan added that Mr. HE had “a right to check” information about Mr. Sokha’s alleged affair because the opposition leader and his purported girlfriend had been wrong to have an affair and then deny it.
“The prime minister has a right to understand that, he has a right to know that, because this information, people like his mistress denied it, and he can prove it.”
...“I have all the means to gather information,” the prime minister said at the time. “Even if you fart, I will know.”
And
https://www.cambodiadaily.com/news/prim ... ss-110056/Mr. Siphan went on to accuse Mr. Sokha of using his mistress as “a sexual slave” and added that Cambodian culture did not allow political leaders to have extramarital affairs.

One wonders why the PM bothers. Cambodia is not a Calvinist like the US. See the foolish and ultimately result-free assault on Bill Clinton, one of the best presidents and most able public figures in the past 10 decades.
90% of Cambodians will yawn and and a good many will admire his elan and virility.

It's called politics.Otis wrote:One wonders why the PM bothers.
In 2006, Norodom Ranariddh was charged under the newly legislated Monogamy Law. (A law that was tailor made for Ranariddh).
Now, Sam Rainsy is in exile to avoid defamation charges.
So, if CPP can get Kem Sokha to flee or face charges, or just make him look stupid, then the next election will be a breeze.

I think the electorate are focused on more important issues. The real threat is the military imposing martial law.

Since the adultery charges don't seem to have stirred things up enough, the "students" have asked the Anti-corruption Unit to investigate allegations of corruption.
I don't think even this will be enough to sway public opinion very much, since the affair is so obviously political. However, if the main aim is to remove Sokha from politics, who cares if the whole thing looks like a setup, just as long as they find something to charge him with. I'm sure they will find something, or certain people will look silly, and we can't have that.
This may go on for a while but I'm sure they will find something in the end. (IMHO)

https://www.cambodiadaily.com/news/acu- ... al-110276/...A group of students claiming no political motive or affiliation have asked the ACU to investigate Mr. Sokha over allegations of an affair—illegal under a little-used Adultery Law—and corruption.
At a meeting of the ACU on Tuesday, chairman Om Yentieng said the alleged affair was none of his unit’s business. But he said the alleged corruption was and that the anti-graft body would decide whether to launch an investigation by Thursday.
“This meeting is not to sentence anyone. This meeting is to discuss whether or not to accept the complaint, and it’s under our jurisdiction,” he said.
“We can ask him for clarification by sending him a letter to explain where he got the money from. But we will not ask him whether or not he has a mistress named Srey Mom,” he added, using the Facebook name of 25-year-old hairdresser Khem Chandaraty...
