to those interested in the American drone program, I can tell you that pilots mostly sleep in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Re: The Hand of God
i dont know about the new systems but searcher system which i flew have endurance about 6hrs, usually we have 2hrs shift each pilot, you cant see shit from 10,000ft, usually we circle at 3000ft to 6000ft depending on clouds, again maybe the new systems have a super duper zoom camera.juansweetpotato wrote:Yep, that the type in the movie. In one instance the co pilot was flying round in circles for 8 hours! waiting for the target to appear at a known residence. Amazing that they have that much fuel, I think they said they were flying at 10,000 ft. Maybe a bit of hollywood added there?

Thanks for the info. No Hollywood for that bit then. Photography has come a long way in a few years. Not so much in the lenses etc. But with digital it's a whole different game. The pilots in Nevada were saying they could see the expression on their targets faces. They were flying in the crystal clear skies of Afghanistani mountains though.bolueeleh wrote:i dont know about the new systems but searcher system which i flew have endurance about 6hrs, usually we have 2hrs shift each pilot, you cant see shit from 10,000ft, usually we circle at 3000ft to 6000ft depending on clouds, again maybe the new systems have a super duper zoom camera.juansweetpotato wrote:Yep, that the type in the movie. They purchase what the Israelis are willing to give them. So when the time comes that the Muslim countries who buy the Chinese drones go all stupid again they will be massacred like 1967. I like when people complain about the US alliance with Israel. Israel could scythe through every other army in the Middle East, why would the US ally with losers (even though they do with Saudi Arabia which is currently getting its shit pushed in by goatfarmers in Yemen.)bolueeleh wrote:world number 1 UAV developer are israelis, when i was there in early 90s, US and israelis just started working on the hunter, global hawk programs, the israelis build their UAVs from scratch, program codes, airframe, etc china, india just copy.

yes most famous was the air combat, the kill rate was something like 1 israelis airplane to 157 arab airplanes, many of US dogfight doctrine was based on israelis doctrine after this.
