Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Banlung: $40k toilet built for Thai princess to be used once

Post by Anchor Moy »

I enjoyed taking the piss out of the fact that Kim Jong-un travels with a portable personal toilet, but it seems that Thai royalty is even more precious. The princess is going to spend a couple of hours having a picnic at Yak Lom Lake in Banlung. This explains the need for the construction of a concrete 8msq $40k personal throne. She is going to take the actual toilet with her when she leaves apparently. (A friend suggested that this is to prevent people taking selfies on the royal bog after she leaves. Lol.)
Large numbers of villages in this area have no toilets at all. I don't see why the princess can't pee in the bushes like everyone else.(Ok, maybe not, but a portable loo is good enough for North Korea's finest bottom.) Does she carry on like this when she tours around Thailand? Bring on the revolution. :Bravo:
When Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn arrives in Ratanakkiri province for the start of a three-day visit to Cambodia on Monday, she will enjoy the comfort and privacy of a luxurious freestanding bathroom built for her on the shore of a popular lake at a cost of more than $40,000, officials said on Friday.

Construction of the 8-square-meter outhouse overlooking Yeak Lom Lake on the outskirts of Banlung City was carried out by the Siam Cement Group (SCG) at the request of the princess and took 19 days, according to Ven Churk, head of the Yeak Lom Lake committee.

“This toilet was constructed for the Thai princess’ use. When the princess has finished with it, they will take the toilet equipment back to Thailand, but the princess will leave the building for our community to use,” Mr. Churk said...

Wait, something about spending a penny needs to be inserted (oo-er) here. Maybe she has a uniquely shaped lady bit, such that the common woman or man would be startled by such a device and unsure of its function. Thus they take it away.

That is one expensive royal Thai turd.

I knew an english guy who used to work in the Queen's travel entourage. His job was to bring rubber poo, apparently made to resemble a typical royal bowel movement in both size and density, and flush them down any toilet that the Queen might have to use on her journey as a test, just to make sure there would be no royal embarrassment if the toilet wouldn't flush properly. No one wants the Monarch to leave a royal steamer in the loo and only for some plumber to fish it out for a souvenir now, do they?

Is this the pooping Thai princess? She looks quite man-ish. I bet she can drop quite a load.

That is what I read, too. Even the construction was done by a Thai company. Still effing disgraceful.
