Kiwi travellers looking for a garage
Hi guys,
We are a Kiwi couple who have ridden from Kuala Lumpur on a couple of Honda Postie bikes (110cc) and are hop ing to do a loop around Vietnam and Laos then onward in the direction of Europe!
Unfortunately Vietnam won't allow foreigners to bring their motorcycles in, so we are trying to find a secure place in Cambodia to leave ours. The plan is then to buy a couple of bikes in Vietnam, spend approx 6 weeks travelling in a loop through Vietnam and Laos then back to Cambodia for our bikes.
So we're basically putting a shoutout in the hope that someone might know someone who has a reasonably secure place to leave a couple of small motorcycles If anyone has any ideas we'd love to hear from you.

Pay for secure parking in Phnom Penh (lots of it - not expensive) and then collect bikes when you get back. Simple as really.TigAndCelia wrote:Hi guys,

You can leave them at the AQUA family Resort in Shianoukville, It has a large secure basement parking area. Cross at the Hatien border at the bottom of Vietnam, and buy your bikes there, ride up and through Vietnam and Laos and then back down to Sihanoukville. I will buy your VN bikes off you at half of what you paid when you pick up the posties.

You can PM me and I'll give you several parking options. Approximately $12-15 per month for covered parking. As others have said, parking is no issue here.

Just slip some tea money to get the bikes across.
They have bigger fish to fry.

There is a place near Olympic stadium where you can park your motorbike as long as you want. It is 1500 riel per day

Thanks for the replies guys. We are in Siem Reap at the moment.
Would any of these "covered" options be suitable for leaving a bag or 2 as well?
Unfortunately we've heard from multiple people who've attempted to get big and small foreign bikes over the border without luck.
Thanks again for the advice

Probably the best deal you'll find.SinnSisamouth wrote:you are better off taking up laudjohn offer

Or you can sit on a pair of overpriced Honda win clones with 15 layers of spray paint holding the rust together for 2 weeks while trying to palm them off to backpackers, only to take less than that offer anyway, just to be able to leave.
I've heard China is also near impossible to take bikes into, if that's your path to Europe.

Thanks for the offer Laudjohn, do you work for this AQUA resort? We probably aren't going to go the Honda Win route, in fact you may not want what we end up buying...
China is similar to Myanmar, you need a guide and it costs and arm and leg. We'll probably only be in China a few days, looking at taking the karakoram highway route through the Stans and down into Iran.
