Cambodians return home

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

You didn't need to post propaganda to make that point. It just calls into question your ability to separate propaganda from news.

You might want to try reading the local papers:

Last sentence of the Bangkok Post article linked in the previous post:

"Meanwhile, a major fish market operator in Khlong Yai district, Trat has dismissed rumours that four Cambodian workers were shot dead there during an army crackdown."

No further comment by the reporter. Fierce Thai investigative journalism unleashed.

I hope yo'u're right on that one Richard, but a few headline grabbing obvious clampdowns against easy targets and populist measures are an easy initial feel good action. I'll judge them on how well they address the institutionalised corruption across the state, political and elite divide in the longer term.
Fingers crossed.

The National Council for Peace and Order denies it has any policy to evict Cambodian migrants and has rejected accusations of abuse. It suggested many of the migrants are simply leaving to farm rice in their home country.

I find it amusing the same guy who posts this:
Enjoy the internet while it lasts
Sources have confirmed rumours that the MICT is at least in the vendor consultation phase of a total lock-down of the domestic internet. Under the plan, every Thai citizen will need to authenticate an internet log-on session with a smart ID card.
Thinks they're not in any way controlling media reports. Especially among poor migrant workers who won't be very high profile if they go missing dead in a ditch somewhere.

The military regime which seized power on May 22 said it had not pulled the plug on the site.

"We have not ordered a block of Facebook -- it's not our policy," said army spokesman Colonel Winthai Suvaree.

"Facebook experienced a slight technical failure and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is working to fix it now," he said.
Facebook, which is not a Thai owned site, had an error and the ICT was "fixing" it? Amazing that Facebook is now hiring the Thai government as tech support!
So far about 330 websites have been taken offline by the junta, according to technology crime suppression officials.
Then... the next day...

"We have blocked Facebook temporarily and tomorrow we will call a meeting with other social media, like Twitter and Instagram, to ask for cooperation from them," Surachai Srisaracam, permanent secretary of the Information and Communications Technology Ministry, told Reuters.
