Documentary: The End of Ownership

Post by CJM555 »

A VPRO Backlight Lab with Thomas Rau, the most radical architect of the Netherlands.
We are on the verge of a significant change in behaviour. The production model in which people work in order to buy things is coming to an end.
We don’t want to own things, we want to have access to them and use them. The fun, but not the trouble: ‘Don’t own, enjoy!’
What does this mean for the way products are made, the way we build, for innovation and economic growth?

Watched this new documentary about the use of resources, materials and it suggests a significant change in the way items are designed, manufactured and used.
Although some aspects of how products are ultimately paid for are suggested as new, the argument is to revert back to higher quality design and build.
Thought it was different from usual something must be done views as at least provides practicable, codified alternatives.

Worth watching.
