Starbucks is Finally Coming to the Kingdom of Cambodia!

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

always burnt to cut through the milk that ppl insist on ruining good coffee with.
a little beyond first crack is all it needs- never 2nd crack.

the cafe operation came much later with the company against stiff resistance of the board.
they came around when one of the partners went solo with enormous success.

cambodia coffee culture is exploding, and good beans here too.

starbucks could be a boon to local growers of they work the corporate responsibility angle.
They pretty much stole what Peet's on Vine in Berkeley was doing and brought it to Seattle. They bought their beans from Peet for awhile. Then one of the owners of Starbucks bought Peet's when they only had 4 stores, sold his Starbucks shares, and had a non-compete in the Bay Area with Starbucks for like 5 years. The original Peet's was the 1st place that I tasted decent coffee that didn't necessarily come out of an espresso machine back in the middle 70s as I lived nearby. Peet's is a little better than Starbucks IMO.

exactly
old peet was a man of strong opinions by report.
a cranky old cuss.

strange, USA had great coffee until the mid 60's, maxwell house et al took it all downhill in commoditising it at the expense of quality.

it is a serious business now worldwide and the quality can be found.

Spinelli's started in SF too in the early 80s. I knew the owner Arnold Spinelli pretty well socially. I've never been to the PP store. Is it any good ?
