Re: Just showing off..
I suspected that might be the case. Prices were good so I was going to order a week or two ago but then I realized it was in Sihanoukville...OrangeDragon wrote:Both. She is Pisey's Pastries. And that batch was Steak & Ale I believe. Now that looks good! Are they homemade or from that Pisey's Bakery place in Sihanoukville? What's inside?
Next time she does an Apple I'll post up some pictures... we get the metal bowls at random Khmer metal stuff shops. Looks for the places that sell metal pots and pans/etc.
Made some pizza again last night. The crust was thicker than usual because sometimes when I make it so thin its hard to put it onto the grill and it "breaks". I need more practice. I also have a bit of trouble rolling them out perfectly round.
First one came out a bit undercooked for my taste but I Was too hungry.
Second and third ones were nice and crispy, just the way I like em':
And since we're showing off: as you can see, I only drink the high-end stuff Oh, and Soi Dog: I drank copious amounts of it.

We just got a slow cooker last week. Here's my girls first attempt - Chicken Cacciatore - absolutley superb! She got the recipe from watching Jamie Oliver on T.V. She normally doesn't eat a lot of barang food, but is starting to get the taste for it now. Penang Curry slow cooker style tonight!
( This is MY first attempt to upload an image here, lets hope it's just as successful)

Hahaha, nice pizza (and wine) Lex.
Just wrapped up my last steps on the Dragon's Breath chili for the Charlie Harper's cook-off on Saturday. Pics will come later as it's served up.

Cute name for your chili - good luck (although I hear tell you won't need it)!

I already delivered a sample to Charlie Harper's... you could see the fear in his eyes after 1 taste...StroppyChops wrote:Cute name for your chili - good luck (although I hear tell you won't need it)!

Re: Just showing off..
Out of curiosity, I just priced out the pizzas I made two nights ago:
Flour+yeast: 0.5$
Sauce: 2$
High quality dry Sausage: 1.5$
Cheese: 3$
Onion and bell pepper: 0.5$
Mushrooms: 0.5$
Green olives: 1$
Total: ~9$ for 3 small (25cm) pizzas.
Not exactly cheap, but I used quality ingredients and put a lot of toppings (enough for 2-3 meals). Around 3$ per pizza, but it kind of shows the margins the Katy Peri guys are on. I obviously didn't buy anything in bulk, but given the time needed to make them, ordering from them or getting an 8$ pizza in a restaurant isn't such a bad deal. I honestly find mine much better than KP's, but I also love theirs after a night out. It just seems like they've been cooking them less and less over time in order to churn out the higher number of orders, resulting in a very sloppy/droopy crust. I also find cooking somewhat therapeutic, especially if done while having a drink with a friend so making pizza at home isn't such a waste of time.
