WTF ? Bangkok Has The Lightest Pollution Among 28 World Cities !
Believe it or not, BKK got an Air Quality Index rating of 18. Dubai got 222 & Beijing aa 328 for example. I'm shocked by this. I've spent a lot of time there there & the air is usually bloody awful. I wonder whether they measured at airports or something. This one doesn't sit right. Link: http://bangkok.coconuts.co/2015/11/24/a ... bal-cities

Dubai is barely polluted at all compared to most big cities - it has absolutely no industry and the power plant is on the edge of town. The trouble there is sand - not a lot you can do about sand in a desert. And in fairness, only tourists and crazy people spend any time outdoors in Dubai - it's too fucking hot to think about it for the sane.

Bangkok used to be worse. Years ago all the moto's and tuk-tuks were two cycle which burn a gas/oil combination. The air was blue and after a few days you could taste oil in your mouth.

After the meltdown the gov subsidized new car buys & got a lot of junkers off the road. It made traffic a lot worse, yet the air got better. For me, it's the diesel fumes walking around BKK. They spew out ungodly amounts of soot & appear to be entirely unregulated.Sailorman wrote:Bangkok used to be worse. This. Nothing like it used to be though it is still pretty rough on some days.Sailorman wrote:Bangkok used to be worse. Years ago all the moto's and tuk-tuks were two cycle which burn a gas/oil combination. The air was blue and after a few days you could taste oil in your mouth.

afaik, there was never any state law regulating the change from 2-stroke to 4-stroke (not 2-cycle) in Thailand.
This happened in the States.
