Man arrested for physical abuse and girlfriend detention

Phnom Penh: According to Everyday News: A man who works with a tour company was arrested by Russey Keo police around 4:50 pm on 21 November 2015 for physical abuse and illegal detention of his girlfriend in a rented house as he is really fond of her.

The arrested man named Horn Sokun, 28 years old and he is a staff at DL Tour Company, living in at house number 378, street K5, Toul Sengke village, Toul Sengke commune, Russey Keo district. The victim named Chem Leakna, 21 years old, third year medical student. Her face was swollen and bruises all over her face.

Police said the reason that he locked her in the room because he really loves her so much and he is really jealous with her.

According to source, the arrested man and the victim have been in a relationship with each other for more than a year and they lived together in room number 12 at house number 378, street K5, Toul Sengke village, Toul Sengke commune, Russeykeo district. Around 8:30 am on 21 November 2015, he was really jealous with her. He accused her of having relationship with another man. It turned out to be violent and resulted in her being locked in the room and he fled.

The day after in the morning, police went to that room to release her and around 4:50 pm the man came back and he was arrested right away. The man was sent to police station in Russeykeo district for further legal action.
