People Burned Down Tyres and Demonstrated Against Sokha Hotel
People burned tyres and demonstrated against Sokha Hotel
Phnom Penh: around 08:40 am on 16 November 2015, people demonstrated against Sokha Hotel and they also burned down tyres. The demonstration took place in village number 1, Chroy Changvar commune, Chroy Changvar district, Phnom Penh.
According to Kampuchea Thmey Daily News, this demonstration took place after the Sokha Hotel started to build fence on the dispute land. People didn’t allow the Sokha hotel to build fence on that land and threatened to burn down the construction equipment. After that, the construction workers lifted up their construction equipment and drove out.
This dispute happened since 2000 while Mr. Chea Sophara was the governor of Phnom Penh and it hasn’t finished it.
