Family cycle trip in SEA.

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

Family cycle trip in SEA.

Post by Anchor Moy »

Lighthearted feelgood read about a family cycling trip through Cambodia and Vietnam, told by one of the daughters.( It's also a plug for Cambodia Cycling by The Telegraph to be totally clear.)
...A Buddhist monk, chanting through a megaphone in Khmer to appeal to locals for offerings, made our Cambodian guide giggle as we rode past.
“What did he say?” my sister asked.
“He said: 'Look at all those funny foreigners on bikes – maybe they will make a donation.’ ”
We didn’t know whether to be delighted or mortified that we’d been mocked by a monk...

I'm far too lazy to do it myself, but I've met a lot of people doing cycle trips here. Seems like a good way to get to know a country in a short time, and create some unforgettable family memories too. Good for them.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
