Russian plane Airbus A231 crashes in Egypt with 221 people on board

A Russian passenger plane with more than 200 people on board has crashed in Egypt.

The Egyptian Prime Minister has confirmed the crash and formed a cabinet level crisis committee to deal with the crash. The majority of the passengers are said to be Russian tourists.

Russian tourists. Hope this was an accident, sad as it is. Shooting down civilian planes is not a good trend.

authorities on the scene in the sinai now. no survivors.
pilots had reported engine problems to maintenance several times in the preceding week.

UK and US authorities now believe that an onboard bomb may be the cause of the crash.

They are taking this seriously since all flights have now been stopped between the UK and Sharm el-Sheikh, a big UK holiday destination.
