What's the smallest caliber firearm you'd use to protect you

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. American here- This question gets discussed a bit back home, a lot actually and firearm owners always fucking arguing with each other as everyone has an opinion.

For home protection, I owned a Sig-Sauer Model 1911, which is a .45 ACP. I wouldn't trust anything smaller to "stop". You better have a good aim, because the mag was only 8 bullets,+ 1 chambered.

For my personal carry, I used a Smith & Wesson .38SP with Magnum rounds, HP. I concealed it in a leather pocket holster.

I owned a Glock 19c 9mm, but that was strictly for fun at the range.

My shooting partner would once in a while bring out his AR-15. That uses 5.56mm rounds which I do believe are = to .223cal ( hunting rounds)
I'll give ya 500 Riel for it...

I fired one once, a few hours later I got feelings back in my hand. Better in a mounted turret.

btw, Canucks need to improvise when stuff isn't allowed.

Nothing speaks home defence like an Over/Under 12 gauge.

I had a .357 magnum

Then I met a Chinese doctor

He stretched it to a .44 magnum with a 7" barrel

I think a long barrel gun makes it easier to hit them when they're running away like a little girl.

If you live in the country, the 3 S's rule applies. Shoot, shovel, shutup.

My great-grandfather gave my grandfather a flintlock, who gave it to my father.

He once loaded it and fired it at a paw-paw (like a papaya) at 15 paces

Gone!

Home protection: 12ga birdshot in a pump with a short barrel.
For carry: None. Carried (.38 snub) for almost 10 years in the States. Then after an experience and some thought, decided it was more likely to cause trouble than prevent it.

Still have my Desert Eagle .50cal collecting dust. I trust nothing else but hate I can't bring it.

Probably good thing, I may have snapped by now by the cars with their high beams on. Of course you could never shoot it while driving a moto lol.
