9 Youths Arrested for Murder and Gang Violence

Cambodia News (Kompong Speu Province): On the morning of January 3, 2023, 9 men were sent to the Court of Kompong Speu province to answer charges of murder and gang violence, which took place in 2022. The murder incident occurred on the Kun Kru bridge on June 18, 2022, and the gang violence and destruction were on St. 41 in Tropang Ambel village, Tropang Kong commune, on December 30, 2022.

The first suspect arrested for murder and gang violence was Sut Saren, a 18 years old male from Ang Metrey village, Kompong Speu province at 12:05 am on December 31, 2022. After his confession, 8 more members of the gang were arrested:
-Cheng Sovann, a 16-year-old boy from Komnob village, Rolang Kreul commune, Samrong Tong District involved in the murder case
-Pang Banha, a 19-year-old man from Krang Rolous village, Rolang Ken commune, Samrong Tong District involved in the gang violence and destruction case
-Putho Rethy, a 22-year-old man from Prey Kantrea village, Rolang Ken commune, Samrong Tong District involved in the murder case
-Koeurn Thona, a 16-year-old boy from Prey Mean village, Prey Pouch commune, Angsnoul district involved in the gang violence and destruction case
-Nak Net, a 16-year-old boy from Kob Chonloh village, Prey Pouch commune, Angsnoul district involved in the gang violence and destruction case
-Sat Brospov, a 17-year-old boy from Prey Mean village, Prey Pouch commune, Angsnoul district involved in the gang violence and destruction case
-Sang Visal, a 17-year-old boy from Svay Oddom village, Samrong Leu commune, Angsnoul district involved in the gang violence and destruction case
-Ry Veasna, a 23-year-old man from Prey Kontrea village, Ranglang Ken commune involved in the murder case

The police seized three motorbikes; a Honda Scoopy (Posat 1M-8585), a Honda Dream (PNH 1GM-3616), a Honda Dream (PNH1IU-5385), and 2 long knives, and 2 cell phones.

Never underestimate those silly-looking youth gangs. They might be morons but they can easily chop you to bits if they get the notion. Also some are from "influential" backgrounds and can act with impunity until they go across some arbitrary line.
