I'd be very curious if the woman, now married, are happy or was it a terrible experience forced upon them.

Re: Young Woman in Court for China Bride Traffic
There was a great documentary about this last year. Can't remember the channel.
These women are intended as brides for farmers who cannot get Chinese wives due to them all wanting rich city husbands.
Thanks to the one child policy and the Chinese mentality of wanting male babies. there is a massive shortage of available females in the farming districts. And who in their right mind would want to be a slave to the man's parents which is what happens?
Enter the shipping of women from Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam to China while in return China exports it's educated, quality tourists.

Re: Young Woman in Court for China Bride Traffic
i knew a girl who was trafficked. wasn't a good experience, but *eventually* she ended up with a nice dude. these girls get raped, and passed on if the guy doesn't like her. i offered to go to authorities (before she was sold which she refused because her mom was involved, and after when she started contacting on facebook), but she got saved by a dude over there and she said she liked the the new guy so i didn't do anything. it just sucks that the people who sell these girls tend to get away.
from what i understand, she was tricked, kind of like an arranged marriage type of thing, and they're told they can get jobs to send money back home, but in reality, these people are selling her, and it gets messy when the parents are getting a cut.
i even offered to match the price her mom was getting if she wanted to stay in cambodia, and let her stay with her aunt. but these girls are naive and she believed her parents.
edit: tbh, i still feel bad about not doing more, but every local told me to stay out of people's business. this was years ago, back when i was still a bit new there.

This is a common problem, I think.
There are a lot of Cambodian mothers out there that are no better than pimps and view their children, more-so daughters, to be nothing more than a commodity or chattel. And they expect a return on the 'investment' they made by shitting out a litter of kids.
Seeing as there is really no social support services to speak of, especially in the provinces, older moms rely heavily on their daughters to keep them replete with rice, Indian soap-operas, and cheap pla-tin whilst they swing away in a hammock looking after the odd grand-sprog and generally doing fuck-all.
Cambodian culture inculcates a serious bout of mother-worship in children, especially daughters.
Why get a job, when I can alter my daughter's birth certificate so she is old enough to get shipped off to work for some tyrannical Malaysian house frau as a slave/maid
or marry her off to somewhere in bum-fuck China for a hefty price
or force her to sell trinkets to tourists on riverside
or guilt her into ending up in the only industry that can possibly satiate dearest mom's hunger for money... the pay for sex game
or...ad infinitum.
