Cambodia Breaking News, Phnom Penh: A young boy suffered a terrible shock when he found the body of a baby in a public restroom on the afternoon of May 9, 2020 in Stung Meanchey 3, Phnom Penh.
The mother of the boy, who asked not to be identified, said today that her son walked into the restroom and found the dead baby wrapped in black clothing in a handwash basin on the bench. The boy immediately ran to tell his mother, so she and some other people went to see what had happened. They remarked immediately that the baby was not breathing, but was already dead, and they reported the macabre discovery to the local authority who came to check the scene.

Local authorities then contacted the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Department's forensic officers for an autopsy which confirmed that the baby had been there for some hours, and the body appeared starved and dehydrated.
The baby's body was taken into custody by the local authorities for identification and funeral rites.

This is the second tragic death of a baby reported on CEO News today. RIP.

On the 9th of May at about 1pm the body of a newborn baby boy was located discarded in a toilet block at the back of a disused market in Russei 1 Village, Steung Meanchey 3 District, Phnom Penh Province.

The CPU was notified, the HIT (homicide Investigations Team) and FST (Forensic Investigation Team) attended the scene and assisted Steung Meanchey Police and Phnom Police Command in conducting a forensic examination of the scene and deceased.
