Without reading I would hazard to guess they're rational people discussing the subject in a rational manner.
There is nothing rational in the way the word is used with a nationalistic agenda in mind, which is what's going down here when all's said and done.
The word is used to demonize a race of people, and generally speaking, those people intensely dislike it.
I'm part of a somewhat extended family and not one of them think it's ok to refer to the Viet as Yuon and have earnestly counciled me on using it.
