Kampong Speu: A boy who had threatened to commit arson and murder was arrested by police in Somrong Torng district, Kampong Speu on 2 July 2018.
The 17 year old boy, Seng Kimleang, was taken into custody by the authorities after he attacked and insulted his 70 year old grandfather, threatening to burn the house down with the old man inside.
Fearing for his life, the grandfather, Don Pon, went to the police for protection against his grandson. After a complaint was filed, police promptly arrested the suspect and took him into custody. When questioned, the teenager admitted that he had threatened to burn down his grandfather's house in order to kill him.
It is not mentioned if the suspect was tested for drugs and alcohol, or if he had known mental heath problems.

ICE rage is on the rise lately...
Everyone is equal. Everyone has a place. No one is written off, because there is worth and goodness in every life... That is the Republican ideal. And if we won't defend it, who will?

Angry about being refused 2000r to buy a beer, the suspect caused $3000 damage by burning down his parents' house.
https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50510329/m ... own-house/Maj Chantha said the court yesterday charged the accused with intentionally causing damage and noted that he faces six months to two years jail if convicted.
Maj Chantha said that on the day of fire, the accused had attended a friend’s birthday party in the village, where he drank beer and got drunk.
He then returned home and begged his mother Kok Sreou, 65, for 2,000 riel, or about $0.50, to buy a drink from a shop. His mother refused, saying that she did not have the money.
The accused did not believe her and an argument ensued, said Maj Chantha.
“He was drunk and became angry with his mother for not giving him the money for a drink,” Maj Chantha said. “He later splashed gasoline on the house and set it ablaze. The fire completely destroyed the house and everything inside.” At the time of the fire the parents were away and nobody was injured, he noted.
Maj Chantha said the accused was beaten by angry villagers who witnessed the fire, leaving him with serious injuries on the face.
The accused then fled, but was later arrested by local police, he added.
Maj Chantha said that according to a police report, the blaze caused damages of at lest $3,000.
