Is "jealousy" the word de jour for the reporters at the moment??

Jealousy is one of humanity's greatest weaknesses.

It will be fascinating if we could ever discover what she was jealous of. Given where she gave him a good slicing, one can only imagine!!

All that said. It doesn’t make it right. The lad is lucky to be in relatively one piece. It could have been worse, given the other jealousy-killing most recently.

You’ve clearly met my ex-wife

In all seriousness, taking a knife or blade to anyone is a ballsy move. It’s so personal. You’ve got to get someone riled to Krakatoa proportions for a knife to be used. It’s so personal. It’s not like a baseball bat or a gun. You’ve got to get up close and personal. Scary!!

Not justifying it in any way - but i can certainly appreciate the pent up boiling rage many Cambodian women must feel at the behavior of many of their men.
Compounded at the power imbalance.

NO man deserves having his god-given balls cut off, imo, but it is no wonder to me that some women sometimes slash back.

I remember when first traveling here, that of reading on how someone is expected how to act, showing respect, due too part that you may offend in some way, and loss of face is a huge issue in Cambodia, such has shouting will only cause embarrassment to the person you’re directing your anger at and will only further fuel the situation, and you go this way. but the outcome is very unpredictable.
I know before anyone tells me crime is worse in our home countries, but there are plenty of serious crimes going on here with people being stabbed or chopped up and frozen, for little reason to us, when the attacker has, or is going to lose face.
So is this the main reason, or are there, the odd few mentally unstable individuals around?
Always "hope" but never "expect".

I think this whole 'saving face' and it's uncultured to overly show emotions and anger in Asia (thinking Thailand and Cambodia in particular from personal experience) is only good up to a point. As it seems when a local reaches that point and tips over, the flood gates open and then there's no holding back. Like the straw that broke the camel's back.

I often wondered when I lived in Thailand whether westerners had something to learn in this respect. The Thais have this view that it's impolite and uncultured to make someone lose face and show emotion and hence look down on foreigners that do so. OTOH from a western perspective, seems to me they are suppressing their true feelings and that poker face smile is all a bit 'fake' imo. Maybe simplistic, but seems to me the Asian system can also lends itself to either full on or full off with not much in between as far as anger management is concerned.. :unknown:

You don't save face by getting violent and stabbing someone, it's the opposite.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
