Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On July 18, 2022, a 40-year-old woman called Mart was arrested following a police investigation, accused of stabbing her brother to death and tampering with his body, on National Road 5, Sangkat Chrang Chamres 2, Khan Russey Keo on July 17.

According to the neighbors, on the night of July 17, there was a physical altercation between the brother and sister, which inflicted major injuries on the suspect's brother. He was sent to be treated at a hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
As a result, at 10:00 pm on July 17, the body of the victim was taken back home, and but it was only at 8:00 am the next day that the authorities were alerted. Meanwhile the deceased had already been hastily buried overnight by the family.

Under police questioning, the victim's mother claimed that her 41-year-old son called Loh Sokry had died of a chronic lung disease that he had had for 10 years. Therefore, the police couldn't examine the victim's body, because according to the police code of conduct, it wasn't a murder, and the family had already buried the body without alerting the authorities.

However, at 12:30 pm on July 18, the police got a hint that could be a murder because there were reports of a fight between family members. This motive allowed the authorities to dig up and examine the buried body of the victim.

After the examination, the autopsy confirmed that the man died from stab wounds, not from chronic lung disease. The sister of the deceased was taken into custody.
