Wild meat sold openly at Stung Treng market
13 May 2018
Stung Treng: All kinds of wildlife are sold freely at the east of the Stung Treng market without fear of the authorities. The open selling of protected wildlife has led to accusations that officials are accepting favours in return for turning a blind eye to these activities. It is suggested that some of these "favours" accorded by the sellers may be of a sexual nature.
Locals say that hundreds of kilos of bush meat are being sold daily, but forestry officials and police take no action at all. They say they are waiting for some wildlife NGOs to come and make a scandal, so there will be a crackdown, because they are concerned that if there is no end to wildlife trafficking soon, then by the next generation there will be no wild animals left in Cambodia.

Lol - there are three wild meat restaurants operating openly on the riverside in Stung Treng, between the market and the old bridge.
Mainly wild pig and deer.
Hugely popular with the locals, and quite cheap too.

There should also be a total ban on wild fish being caught.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Wild meat used to be on sale everyday at the Walkabout and GSM. Mikados used to have a good selection of wild meat. Maybe try Candy Bar for good and crazy wild meat. Happy Hunting!

I think he was joking.

There is exactly nothing wrong with selling, buying or eating wild meat, as long as the animals aren't endangered.

Uh, I think the point of the whole post is that the whole forest is endangered, and most of the animals within it.
No leopards or tigers left in Cambodia.
No salties.
No Siamese crocodiles/
No gharials.
Few black bears.
Few Mekong catfish.
Few pangolins.
Long list of animals no longer seen here.
So yes, there is something VERY wrong with eating wild meat.
Perhaps Nick Marx, the Director of Wild Aid should explain this to you.
At least then we can have a more informed perspective.
