Wild meat sold openly at Stung Treng market

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Birds
Reptiles
Mammals

etc?
I don't know. What I'd usually do is try to identify the species and then check its status, and if possible historical range. So while Leopards, for example, are only considered "vulnerable", they only exist in 25% of their previous range and are close to extinction in Cambodia.

I once had lunch with some arsehole who served swan. A real wannabe, kept on telling me how expensive it was.

I told him I was vegetarian to be polite, he was too stupid to think about the pork ribs I had eaten.

If endangered animal meat was marketed as a luxury, top - of - line product and made very very expensive, a portion of the proceeds could be funneled back to research into breeding that species in captivity. I suggested this idea to my Chinese wife in the form of Panda Burgers but she just acted all outraged. I personally would splurge on a Panda Burger and I'm sure many Chinese would as well.

God damn snares cause so much indiscriminate suffering. Cruel way for an animal to die.
