which NGO rips you off
Re: which NGO rips you off
Someone biologically close to me told me the salvation army turned them away when they desperately needed help and were close to suicide. One person’s viewpoint but it is enough to have me at least not accept positive comments about the organisation without question.Cruisemonkey wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 7:25 pm My grandfather was in the trenches of WW1. He was not religious, but always had a great admiration for the Salvation Army because of how they helped the soldiers.
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

I hate to agree but ....vladimir wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 7:50 pm What is UNICF?
UNICEF?
Fake news: https://www.unicefusa.org/about/faq/ceo-salary-email
' UNICEF USA receives the highest ratings for transparency, accountability and administration from Charity Navigator. Of every dollar spent, 90 cents goes toward helping children. We spend just 7 cents on fundraising costs, and 3 cents on administration.. '
Those figures mean that we received Charity Navigator’s top scores for our low administration and fundraising expenses (10 out of a possible 10 in each category).
They have revenue of $5Bn/year.
People need to stop accepting Facebook memes as a reliable source of information.

I have worked with a number of NGO's and come across none of this gross misappropriation of funds represented in the OP.

When I was conned and almost homeless, the Salvation Army were amazing! They gave me food hampers, voucher for a butcher, voucher for petrol and new clothes, so I could go to job interviews.
I went for an interview, got a job and started climbing out the hole.
Salvos were wonderful to me.

Yeah, I'd donate to the Salvation Army, great organisation, and I'm no fan of organised religion.

Re: which NGO rips you off
My recent case of trying to get treatment for a B/L for TB has show me that even when funds are supplied by NGO's , in this case WHO, most of the money does not get to where it is needed to solve the problem. So I think in most cases it's not about NGO's ripping you off,, it's more of , Who is ripping off the money that the NGO's hand over . But it's all a part of the system where everyone s got their finger in the pie.

rozz, You are a woman. You would have been treated differently if you were a man. Why do you think there are hundreds/thousands on men who are on the street homeless and very few women .

Silence, exile, and cunning.
Re: which NGO rips you off
Because homeless men are more likely to have uncontrolled alcohol or drug problems than their female counterparts, they are more frequently excluded from emergency shelters, which oftenrequire abstinence as a condition for admission. This partially explainsDuncan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 9:30 amrozzieoz wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2017 6:45 am When I was conned and almost homeless, the Salvation Army were amazing! the fact that far more men than women sleep on the streets. https://www.nhchc.org/wp-content/upload ... gHands.pdf
Ratio of male to female homeless is obviously different in different countries, an article from a UK tabloid states:
It's hard to track down official statistics on homelessness that take account of gender. But in 2011 the housing charity Crisis found that 84% of the hidden homeless were male. And the latest CHAIN figures suggest that 9 out of 10 people sleeping rough are male.
According to Mankind Initiative in UK refuges or safe houses, there are 33 spaces dedicated to male victims of domestic violence (of which 18 are for gay males only), compared to around 4,000 spaces reserved for females. https://www.theguardian.com/news/databl ... e-feminism
