Two Cambodian members of the CMAA delegation were tested positive for Covid on their arrival in India this week.

2 Cambodian nationals’ samples among 65 sent for genome sequencing
On December 26, one of the two Cambodian nationals had tested positive as antigen test was conducted on the delegation.

In view of surge in cases of of Omicron sub-variant BF.7 across the world, Gujarat has sent samples of 65 Covid-19 patients, which include two Cambodian nationals, to Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre (GBRC) in Gandhinagar for genome sequencing.

Director of GBRC Prof Chaitanya Joshi confirmed to The Indian Express Friday that the reports of the 65 samples are expected to arrive next week.

The two Cambodian nationals — one male and one female- — are part of the delegation of 19 members from Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) that had arrived at Ahmedabad on December 25 for a training programme at Rashtra Raksha University.

On December 26, one of the two Cambodian nationals had tested positive as antigen test was conducted on the delegation.

Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 24 – Cambodia recorded zero new COVID19 case on Tuesday, down by one from Monday, according to Ministry of Health's press release dated 24 January 2023.

The infections brought the total tally to 138,677. The country reported no death from the disease on Tuesday, with the total fatalities staying at 3,056.

Nationwide 135,611 COVID19 patients have so far recovered.

Over 15.2 million doses of COVID19 vaccines, or 95.35 percent of total population, have been administered in the kingdom. Over 10 million shots on people aged 18 and above, said the ministry.

Cambodia has already recorded COVID19 infections with Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 sub-variants and is accelerating the inoculation of the sixth dose among citizens.

DPM Samdech Krala Hom Sar Kheng Tested Positive for COVID-19

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh) On 12 May 2023, Samdech Krala Hom Sar Kheng tested positive for COVID-19 after the Deputy Prime Minister had a slight abnormal health condition. According to the posting on Samdech's official website the DPM urged the nation to continue monitoring their health and testing themselves for the virus.
He also said that he will isolate himself and exercise and work from a separate room in his home as usual, with apologies for the cancellations in his work schedule, and will continue to update his health information.
